Kirklees Council Funding to support adults with a physical disability. Being inclusive about getting out and about
Due to upgrade on the Yortender system the application and associated documents must be submitted by email firstname.lastname@example.org. The deadline for submission is 23rd September 2016.
Community Partnerships are inviting organisations to apply for funding to develop new ways to support adults with a physical disability to get out and about and enjoy community based activities.
Whether you want to go to the theatre; the cinema; a concert; try canoeing; play tennis; watch a sporting event; learn cake making; learn acting; or go shopping! Kirklees Council wants people with a physical disability to have the same opportunities to access the social and leisure activities of their choice including during the weekend and evening.
We are looking for one or two community based projects to enable working age adults with a physical disability to come together to enjoy social and leisure opportunities in groups. The focus is on enabling people with similar interests to do things together, make friends and encourage peer support. This funding is not intended to provide ‘day care’ for disabled people, but rather to support people to get more involved in existing activities and become more connected socially. The project(s) will need to be good at making connections, reaching people with physical disabilities, and using innovative solutions to the barriers faced by people with physical disabilities. This grant will offer 12 months seed funding to get the project off the ground – costs associated with the activities and getting to them must be met by the participants.
Community Partnerships places a lot of focus on group sustainability and community contribution - please read all the attached documents thoroughly and contact us if you have any questions.
Miss Gemma Jenkinson
